Searchlight Report

The purpose of this research project is answer the question: why do some people believe in God?

After aggregating the evidences and experiences that have led people to faith, we will analyze the trends and publish the results. This will include a book and research report. All contributors will receive advance notice of the book’s publishing date and a free copy of the report. We sincerely thank you for your participation!

Please note, all responses are kept strictly confidential, unless you wish to be named. Otherwise, only the first name you provide will be used in any published quotations. Published testimonies may be edited for length and grammar. The Searchlight Report does not share or sell any personal information to any third parties.

This submission form is divided into three sections to help us better understand how you have developed in your faith. There is no word count minimum or maximum, just try to give us a good idea of your journey. The “guiding questions” below each section are simply prompts, and we encourage you to share your story however is most natural for you.

How did you understand God as a child?

Were you raised with any religious traditions? How did your parents and peers view God? What relationships, activities, media, etc. affected your beliefs? What about your teen years? Did you ever question God’s existence? Where did you turn for answers, and were they satisfying?(Required)

If you had faith and lost it, why? If you never really had faith, why do you think that was? Were you a committed Atheist, more agnostic, or questioning? Did you ever ponder your purpose in life? What was easier and what was harder? What were your relationships like? Were you content?(Required)
